April showers, rain boots & flowers!

I just love the ideas that come form my DIY Better Homes & Gardens magazine. My sister got me a subscription to it for my bday. Its one of those magazines that after every issue I litterly get a buzz from all the projects!! One I wish I thought of is a rain boot planter!

I can’t tell you how many times I see rain boots for a $1 or 2 at thrift stores. What a great use! I actually have a pair of my own that while I just love the look of them, they HURT my feet! I couldn’t part with them & so glad it didn’t!

Unlike the BHG mag. I’m going to show you a way you can use the boots for a planter & still be able to use them to wear later !
Grab your boots & flowers. First line the rim with sturdy double face tape. I actually used the tape that came with plastic window covering. That stuff sticks super well!

Then place a small garbage bag inside each of the boots. Stick the top of the bag to the double face tape. Now you can fill each boot with dirt & it wont effect the inside of the actual boot.
Now add your flowers. Cover with more dirt. Done! When your done using these as planter just remove bag & tape. If you like to have a pair exclusively just a planter. Drill a few drainage holes at the bottom first & then fill with dirt & flowers. Either way a great use for old boots (or even ones that hurt your feet!).

Put these where ever you’d like to make a cute spring statement!

Now if it would just get warm enough to start the garden...... hummmmm :)

  8. This is so cute and so perfect for spring! It's funny, because I finally parted with a pair of old rain boots that I loved but didn't fit right and now I'm kicking myself! I could have used them for this! Sigh.
