Thrifty Thursday...I mean Friday!!

Whoops! I know it's not Thursday, but I have gotten a little side tracked with this being the last week of school for my girls & planning my daughters 6th birthday party this Saturday. So its a day late...better late then never right?

What do you do with a dead tree when your waiting to have it replaced? Turn it into a bird feeder!
Our poor birch tree did not make it. It lived for 2 years, but this spring it didn’t come back. It was the first tree we planted out back.....

Heres the girls in the hole that we dug to plant the tree!
Tree going in...
2 years later...tree dead :(
So while I wait for my husband to replace it, I thought I’d make it have a purpose! I hit the thrift store & bought all the wood bowls I could find. Then grabbed a few screws & went to work!
First I trimmed off the branches on the sides. I just left the 2 lager ones I the middle along with the small branches on top to give the birds plenty of space to land & stick around for a while. I staggered the bowls through out, screwed them in to the tree & filled them with food. The birds have loved it !

It will do for now……but I want my new tree!!
(but the birds are happy!)
