Last Sunday I woke up, grabbed my coffee & sat down to catch up on my blog reading. What a treat it was to read Allison's post over at This Gallimaufry Life on how to make dandelion honey!! I never even knew that something so yummy could be made from this pretty little flower ! And what kid doesn't love picking them?!
So off the girls went .....
Collecting, cutting , boiling.....
Yummmmmm.......
And look at this crazy mutant of a dandelion my youngest found....
That's one GIANT stem with about 5 flower heads!! Weird! We didn't add this to our honey. We had to save this in a vase : )

Dandelion honey sounds good, I check out the recipe. That is one very strange looking dandelion, a real giant.
Hello Trisha! I think I haven't seen the actual Dandelion plant. What I usually see are those that are sold in flower shops already. I was surprised by the fact that it can be used as an ingredient to a drink. Great! It's beautiful and it's healthy!
We have tons of dandelions. We talked about making them into wine - I didn't even think of jelly though!
I am amazed dandelion honey. I would like to try that. Beautiful shots. B
oh, i'm glad you tried allison's recipe! i hope you like it! glad the girls could help!
I would like to try some. I had never heard it until she posted it.
I'm thinking there was some photoshopping going on with that mutant dandelion. Was a stalk of celery involved? haha!
Thanks for linking up, Trisha. :)
What a wonderful variety.

Wow, never heard of this, and I love jams, and jellies. Loving that this is described as a honey, I eat tons of the real stuff. Finally I have an excuse for my wild lawn - am harvesting dandelions.
Nancy- It does look like a celery stick!! It was quiet a mutant!:)
Lisa- I also want to try the wine. I might start some & see how it goes :)
My grandpa used to make dandelion wine, but I've never heard of making honey with it. Interesting...
Now I know why my dog likes to eat them! I'm anxious to learn more...
Thanks for stopping by!! I'm gonna have to try it. My husband mowed over them this afternoon after we picked ours. They should be back in a couple days! :) I'm going to link to you inside my post! Gonna go change it now!
Sounds yummy, We have enough of them!! You have a wonderful blog!
Oh yay! You did it! I have found those gross hulking, mega-monster dandelions before. It's so weird - as if nature just freaked out like rabbits! ;)
Cute pics of the little girls.
I've never heard of this either, but I'll definitely try it out with my kids. We've cooked the greens before--they were not the tastiest. :)
I love your monster dandelion!
That gigantic dandelion is really funny ; )

So I attempted this. My kids had fun picking, then pulling off the petals. BUT, I left the dandelion mixture on the stove to long--the water evaporated! Uhg. Maybe next month.
