The Blizzard is really here!

Veiw from our front porch
So we’re in the middle of a blizzard now. They said it was coming, but I never believe it until I see it. It started early this morning with lake effect snow, but by 2 pm it was windy & the snow really began to come down. I usually walk down to the bus stop to meet up with my girls after school. Its only at the end of the block. But today I had to drive down to get them. It was sooooo windy they would have blown away!

So off Lucy & I went……
Bus was 20 min late. Lucy's pretty tired of waiting!

View from the car. This is before the blizzard really got going!

The school has been canceled for tomorrow : )   If the weather man is right we should get about 12 to 18 inches by Wed. afternoon!

This drift is twice as tall since I took this pic after school.
We’re warm & cozy inside & just finished some crock pot chicken soup, with plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. Here’s my quick & easy recipe…..

2 Cans chicken broth
1 cup of chopped carrots
1 cup chopped celery
2-3 potatos cut in to small chunks
Dash of salt & pepper
2 to 3 tablespoons of dried onions
3 to 4 chicken breast - chopped into large chunks
1 table spoon of dried basil
Cook on low for 4 to 5 hours.
If you like, add cooked noodles or rice when its time to serve. For something different we decided to use whole wheat lasagna noodles. Just cut into smaller chucky noodles when cooked. Its so yummy to have the big noodle on your spoon!

Hope your all warm & cozy !

Wow - that is a lot of snow - I am surprised they sent the kids with the forecast. Glad they are home safe and sound and have a bonus day off! WOOT! Wallene got to stay home today because of ice.

The soup looks delicious - I think I may need to make this tomorrow. Thank you.

This weather system is crazy, isn't it?! Even escaping to Texas wouldn't have helped you today. We were in low 20s today and hitting low teens tonight. We at least didn't get too much snow/ice here in our little world. But boy, we got that wind too! Stay safe and warm! And your little doggie is cute!

It's 9:45 pm and our temp is 8 degrees. Last night this time 38 degrees, night before last 50 degrees. Baby it's cold out there. And the wind is howling at about 30 mph. My poor SM has to work until 1am when it is supposed to be -9. We're not used to temps this cold. Brrrrrrr. I even put my little dogs sweater on for the very first time.....after she got in cuz she was shaking so badly. Then she ate it. Oh well.
Stay warm, The Olde Bagg, Linda

A "Chicago girl" myself, I just finished watching two video newscasts of Chicago weather online! You can imagine my delight when I discovered your pictures and report! Thanks! I'll be watching for more news tomorrow to see how you're doing. Love the pic of Lucy! xoxo

I picked up my daughter from the bus stop in my car on Monday, too. The kids were off Tuesday and today (Wednesday). We didn't get nearly the snow that you did, but we had sub-zero temps for a high.

I haven't shoveled my vehicles out yet. This is the second day of no school. I remember waiting for that bus with my kids and it got cold during this kind of stuff. We had a little ofver a foot here in SE Iowa.My baby dog used the patio last night the snow was so deep. I had to make her a path this morning and probably will clear it again soon. Love that sweater on Lucy.
