Cookie Cutters & Pies !

I was checking out some cute ideas in blogland this week and I found this delicious cherry pie idea over at A Home Made by Kiki. These just looked to yummy not to try! Any thing I can use cherry pie filling for is always a hit in our house!  I changed it up a little & used a small one to make as many little pies as I could. Check out Kristina's post to see how to make a great hand held pie too.

Using just a heart shaped cookie cutter, pre-made pie crust, sugar, & a can of cherry pie filling is all it takes.
Roll out pie crust on a cookie sheet. Using the cookie cutter, press out as many hearts as you can.

To make the little pies place a few cherries with a little filling in the middle of the heart. Place another heart cut out on top. Press sides together using fingers (little helpers are great for this).
Then use a fork & press around the edges. Poke a few holes on top to help the filling from baking out. Then we sprinkled a little brown sugar on top.
I wasn’t sure how long to bake them since they were so small. I ended up baking at 400 for about 20 mins. I would recommend checking often since all ovens are a little different.

We are loving these little hearts today! I say “today” because they will not last longer then that in this house. They’ll be gone by tomorrow for sure   : )

Adorable. We make the kids heart shaped pizzas on Valentine's day for lunch and then dinner is "red" themed with strawberry pie for dessert.

Might have to switch it up this year. Thanks for idea.
